Description
Going for a rope or coil sausage can be a great way to spice things up at your holiday table for an appetizer or a meal.ย Unlike the shorter links, each fresh Uliโs Famous Potato Sausage Coil measures approximately 44-48 in length and weighs 2 lbs. Seasoned with love by Uli, this potato sausage will create a statement and be a conversation starter at any holiday table.
COOKING OPTIONS:
OVEN: When it comes to cooking, baking it in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes is an option.ย That gentle heat will allow the meat to cook all the way through without burning or breaking the casing. ย We recommend keeping a temperature of roughly 300-350 degrees Fahrenheit until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
STOVETOP: However, you can also grill it. One of the biggest MISTAKES to make with any type of sausage is to cook it over high heat. It might be tempting to sear THIS COIL like a steak, but the exterior of most links or coils, are much more fragile and will lose much of their valuable fat and juices if they split.ย While it might be tempting to cut the rope of links down to individual servings, it’s best to cook it whole.
GRILL: Place coil on a 325*F grill for 15 minutes.ย Turn over using a plate to flip and continue heating for an additional 10 minutes or until internal temperature is 165*F

Our parents used to make potato sausage at home and we thought it was the best in the world. 30 years later we didn’t have the recipe or equipment to make it ourselves so started looking for a source. After some online research we found Uli’s and made the trek down to South Seattle and bought a 2 lb. coil after being assured it was the best anywhere. You know what? – IT WAS! All of the folks there were so nice and friendly and helpful. Now we have a new (old?) Christmas tradition and will be ordering every holiday season.
